Promotion into Super League awaits for either Featherstone Rovers or Even Toronto Wolfpack Because both sides go head-to-head at Lamport Stadium on Saturday from the Million Pound Game.
Stephen Owen gives us a exceptional insight from Canada because we look ahead for this enormous clash…
One of the most exciting fixtures of the Rugby League season is that the Million Pound Game – the fixture to choose who will be encouraged to Super League next season.
Flying to among the worlds best cities offers it that extra bit of excitement. Having experienced the air in the fixture that is exact same one year past, I know were in for a treat on Saturday – and what a match it is likely to be!
On my trip from Manchester to Toronto, I talked to a number of those directors in Featherstone Rovers. He was full of pride following what this year has been achieved by the team. On Saturday, there will be a screen at the house floor of Featherstone showing the game live on Sky Sports – and theyre also expecting 300 to 400 diehard Rovers fans to create over the journey to Canada in the last moment.
Flights at such short notice could cost somewhere in the area of #1000, and a few fans may need to fly via Iceland, so its an amazing effort from those loyal fans who wish to see their club hit Super League for the first time in their history.
Our travel was relatively simple. It was nice and simple to enter the city centre, with amazing transport connections in the airport After we landed.
Another passionate soccer team lover I met in our trip neednt be worried about that though – he had been getting a connecting flight to Los Angeles, and then on to Sydney for the NRL Grand Final of Sunday! An lifelong Sydney Roosters supporter, he has taken five days to get to the game – and he thinks theyll lose to the Canberra of John Bateman, so thats some serious commitment!
Tonight was the opening of the 2019 NHL season, and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been also getting the season underway – therefore that this has dominated the news over here. On the other hand, the Wolfpack feel they will have tons of aid come Saturday and there is even talk that this may be the firstoffered game in Wolfpack history.
An exciting few days ahead, we are going to be visiting the Wolfpack on Thursday afternoon prior to the Featherstone camp on Friday – more updates to follow…
