One of the Rugby League seasons most exciting fixtures is that the Million Pound Game – that the fixture to determine who will be encouraged to Super League year.
Flying to among the worlds greatest cities such as Toronto gives it that extra little enthusiasm. A year ago having experienced the atmosphere, I know were in for a treat on Saturday – and what a match it is likely to be!
On my trip from Manchester to Toronto, I had been talking to a number of the directors. He was full of pride after what this season has been achieved by the team. There will be a significant screen at Featherstones home ground showing the match live on Sky Sports – and they expecting 300 to 400 Rovers fans to create over the journey .
Flights at this short notice may cost somewhere in the area of 1000, plus some fans may have to fly via Iceland, therefore it is an unbelievable effort from those loyal fans who want to see their club reach Super League for the first time in their history.
Our journey was relatively straightforward. It was fine and simple to enter the city center, with terrific transport connections in the airport, once we landed.
Neednt be worried about that though – he had been getting a connecting flight to Los Angeles, then on to Sydney for the NRL Grand Final of Sunday! An Sydney Roosters supporter, hes shot five days off work to get to the game – and he even thinks theyll lose to John Batemans Canberra, therefore that is some commitment!
Tonight was the opening of this 2019 NHL year, and the Toronto Maple Leafs had been getting the season underway – so this has dominated the news over here. However, the Wolfpack feel they will have lots of assistance come Saturday and there is even talk that this may be the very firstoffered game in Wolfpack history.
An exciting few days ahead, well be visiting the Wolfpack on Thursday afternoon prior to the Featherstone camp on Friday – more updates to follow…
