Send (); }); / ** / Recently it appeared in online media information about American schools, in which 292 school districts (out of 15,000) shortened by one day time schooling. First and foremost for financial reasons – Friday turned out to be too difficult to bear financially self-government budgets. Is this a preview of what a decade can be something normal? It emerged from studies conducted in the United States by the “Washington Post”, schools have at least 292 school districts have classes only four days, usually from Tuesday to Friday inclusive. The number of districts working on these principles more than doubled over the past two years. Experts warn that this may reflect the level of education of future generations of Americans. They admit that the teachers themselves, although they have more free days a shortened week of school. Do we also waiting for such changes? Information about the fact that hundreds of American schools shorten teaching four days a week in Poland, passed unnoticed. Probably mainly due to the fact that distant country, and not our problems, so we did not care. Wrongly. Problems with public finances are a major concern of the new government in Poland, who wonders how much money can be drawn from taxpayers to cover the national debt by inflating budget holes. In turn, local governments constantly looking for ways to finance the next tasks dokładanych them by the Ministry of Education and the maintenance of a network of schools (thereby already including closing schools or try to combine them). PNA and other unions will not allow any changes to the Teachers’ Charter, which would change the current rules of funding of wages in this profession. Rather, it is expected that in the short term will run out of money for school and you will need to frantically look for various ways to keep the public education system. What then? American solution may be one of the possible options. In total, you would be so even think to turn such a change for the benefit of students. Provided extension components of e-learning and the introduction of online activities organized eg. On “free from coming to school.” Of course you can only do this in advance. For an extension of virtual education speaks a lot of arguments – it is less expensive than the organization of activities in schools; Educational digital resources continue to grow, so will the resist (especially if the Minister Michal Boni realize his plan to finance the creation of digital educational resources in the Polish language based on free licenses). It is also more attractive to students for whom the virtual learning environment and communication is something natural. Should we have to prepare for such a scenario? How should we prepare for that eventuality? One thing is certain – there are some changes. The discussion today about the financial future of education (or indeed any other) is not wishful thinking, as a permanent element in the contemporary world are the financial problems of countries that can not maintain a functional model invented in the nineteenth or twentieth century, in a completely different economic and social conditions. Shrinking (amounts in real terms) public budgets and growing debt is notorious countries seeking savings. Is the education system is such a value that it will miss the cut? I doubt it. About Greece will not mention, as an example already very drastic, but remember that when the current government of British Prime Minister Cameron started up office, made huge cuts in all areas of public activity, eliminating the occasion also excellent and exemplary for the whole world public educational initiatives (eg. Becta). For a time, the crisis has managed to stave off, but the next time cutting education in the UK will not be deeper? Many of the possible scenarios for the development of education I wrote together with Witold Kołodziejczykiem in the report What will change education? Challenges for Polish schools and student, issued by the Institute of Civic. I think it is worth pondering what to do with “free Monday”, although perhaps it is still a distant moment when shorten the school week in Poland. But such a scenario is quite possible. Send (); }); / ** / This study is devoted to the form of education, which is commonly used in the world for inducing changes in social attitudes. Edutainment is used with good results in different areas of education, such as environmental, health, economic. This tool can be successfully used also in Poland. How to educate? The concept of lifelong learning implies diversity of improving knowledge, which are used by the body in her personal and professional life. School education in the twenty-first century will probably be only one of many stages of education, which in the course of his life, anyone who wants to achieve professional success and life, will have to go. Probably also change the philosophy of the school. While today aim is to provide knowledge and information, so much in the future may be more meaningful skills development of knowledge management and information retrieval. With the development of electronic media and other forms of communication, the burden of providing knowledge and information will be transferred outside the walls of the school and will rest primarily on educators, educational organizations and the media. In other words, more weight gain for the average Kowalski different forms of informal education. In the world this trend is already noticeable. Lecture ceases to be an effective form of education, and more important for students to acquire various kinds of extracurricular forms in which they can acquire skills and expand their knowledge much more effectively than in school. This applies especially to education using the Internet (including e-learning) and the media. The results show that for the vast majority of the public media are the most important source of information and knowledge. Studies confirm that 92% of adult respondents draws information on the nature of economic and economic television, and 49% from the radio (PBS, 2003). The importance of the media in shaping attitudes to life people, as well as in creating fashion for certain behavior (see “Dancing with the Stars”). On the other hand, many players experience shows that the same media saturation transfers of educational is not sufficient to cause visible changes in society and to achieve a significant increase in knowledge among viewers. This knowledge must be given in an appropriate way – unfortunately the sound of “education” viewers often switch to other TV channels in search of entertainment. It would also be to be served with high frequency. The same message should return repeatedly to the audience, preferably in different forms and time. In the light of the foregoing, it is worth paying attention to Edutainment. It is a tool of universal education, brought to a large audience through the use of multiple communication channels. It is also a bit different education than that to which we have become accustomed. Edutainment, the pleasant essence of education edutainment type activities is the combination of education with entertainment. The motto of this form of education is the statement “learn by playing.” It also indicates the appropriate hierarchy. The term edutainment we understand such actions, which are primarily aimed at education, and a form of entertainment is the only way to hide the message more attractive or educational. Nowadays it is believed that the value of edutainment is that it is a tool for the implementation of a specific strategy for social change, eg. The development of health education, raise awareness of ecological, or economic. We can distinguish edutainment in a broader and narrower sense. In the first sense we can talk about all forms of activities that are designed for educational purposes and use a certain form of entertainment to pass the specific content of a defined audience. In this sense, edutainment is also a theatrical drawing attention to the problem of AIDS, Radio BIS Science Picnic Festival or Science, or cinema productions like “Microcosm” and “Makrokosmos – Sky dance.” Edutainment in the narrower sense is any action combining education with entertainment, which use the mass media as the primary channel of communication with the customer. The sender transmits find educational content by hiding them in the entertainment program or blends specially prepared “lessons” in the format of popular entertainment – television, computer, video, movies, music, web pages and portals, multimedia, etc. The advantage of edutainment is its high efficiency transfer of knowledge and skills. There is ample evidence (in the world and in Poland) that the use of this tool accelerates and stabilizes the desired (or created) social attitudes, especially if transferred content is useful and consistent with the expectations of the general public. The effectiveness stems mainly from the fact that minds are more open to educational message when the recipient does not realize that at the moment they are learning. Polish experience on a large scale edutainment was used in 2005-2007 by the Polish National Bank in the framework of activities undertaken in the field of economic education. NBP activities are addressed to students of middle and high schools, students, and also to persons who by virtue of his position or profession transmit knowledge to others, eg. Teachers, lecturers, journalists, priests. A large part of educational programs directed to the whole of society, as an important educational objective of the bank is widespread economic education of society. Among the various educational tools used by the NBP in educational activities do not run out and edutainment. Here are a few examples. a. Gold Heroes – the Poles and Money A successful edutainment program was a two-hour show on TVN, in which viewers can test their knowledge about money and personal finance. The idea of the ‘Golden Heroes “was based on the assumption that the knowledge test will be interesting for the audience, if questions will be related to practical situations that each of us meets every day. To spice message to the viewer every question has been cased footage studybay, usually containing scenes from the Polish comedy or cabaret scenes specially sfilmowanymi. Despite the nature of the entertainment program, the main target was to counteract the spread of misconceptions about money and market economy. Specially prepared to test questions contained serious dose of economic knowledge in the field of labor market, entrepreneurship, monetary policy, public finance, saving and investing. To draw viewers used to play a lot of different communication channels (through the media accompanying), which not only promoted the main element of the program, the show live on TVN, but also passed quite a dose of knowledge on finance. The educational campaign used the following tools: quiz (quiz) television TVN – the number of viewers watching the program: 8.2 million, with the number of viewers who watched the whole program: 2.3 million; insert Press Television Gazeta (Gazeta Wyborcza) – card answers to the questions appearing on TVN; a series of educational articles in Gazeta Wyborcza daily and Wprost; a series of radio programs in the PR Program 3; Internet service action on Onet.pl – www.zloty.onet.pl, the number of people solving test in the Internet during the program: 102,000; in addition to 2,500 schools a lesson plan and sent the game to implement in the classroom.
