The BYU Cougars (0-1) travel to Knoxville in Week two for a showdown with the Tennessee Volunteers (0-1). Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM EST on Saturday, September 7th at Neyland Stadium and the game will be televised on ESPN.
This past week, tennessee started as a 3-point house favorite. That point has to proceed after early as the Vols are currently listed at -3. The total for your match is currently sitting at 51 points.
BYU could not find a way to emerge victorious in the”Holy War” against Utah at Week 1 although trailing by just a field goal at halftime. The Utes came from that the second half, scoring 3 unanswered touchdowns to put the game.
BYU QB Zach Wilson could not find any consequences against a tough Utah defense, getting picked twice and throwing for only 208 yards — one had been returned for a touchdown.
RB Ty’Son Williams established BYU on the ground using just a bit of a flicker , running for 45 yards and a touchdown. Matt Bushman also gave a good effort, catching 6 balls for 62 yards. BYU offense could not sustain any offense and was able to score 12 points.
BYU did a wonderful job defensively holding the crime. However, they began to give a little farther down the stretch, as Utes RB Zach Moss put on a display en route to a large 187 yard, 1 touchdown performance.
Tennessee fell to 0-1 on the season last weekend, despite being preferred by 26 points dropping a shocker to Georgia State.
The Vols jumped out to an early lead at the first quarter as the Panthers rallied to regain the lead prior to closing out the win heading into the 4th quarter, but it was and then.
Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano had a match, heading 26/40 for 2 touchdowns throwing to 1 interception and 311 passing yards.
He had a ton of help from wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who lit up the Georgia State leading to 108 yards and a touchdown. Tennessee crime looked good aside from three turnovers, racking up nearly 400 yards and scoring three touchdowns.
Georgia State managed to pull off a massive upset in Week 1 due to the Volunteers play on defense. Tennessee gave up 350 total yards, and while not seeming to be significant, nevertheless led to five Panthers touchdowns.
Tennessee could not establish themselves in stopping the run. Georgia State had three separate Georgia State rushers to obtain the end zone.
I don’t have a ton of confidence in both of these programs. I think that the Vols loss against Georgia State was more of an exception and not the rule.
I feel this was a shocking lack of preparation and not an indictment of this Vols talent. Having said that Tennessee is the greatest team, playing in Neyland Stadium at prime time.
